The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, therefore the absence is the rejection of his word. To fear God is to know him, to know him is to know his word and abide in it. Fear is rooted in knowledge, understanding and obedience to his word which is the fountain of life in accordance with Proverbs 14:27.

To fear God is to know him

There is a decline in our desire to know God beyond our Sunday service. Much of the lack of zeal is exacerbated by our complacency and familiarity with the Gospel. We fail to understand that our mere existence is dependent on our daily intake of his word and the wisdom to abide in it. With every step towards his reproof we enrich our souls with life and favor Proverbs 8:35. Evidently if we are attentive to his word which is life no matter what  life throws at us we shall remain unmoved because we have the fountain of life embedded in our spirit, his living word which brings forth life.

Pride of Life

There are many reasons why you might have forsaken the word of God for counterfeit versions of wise counsel. I don’t know know about you but countless times I’ve found myself neglecting his word and promises because of my pride. Pride which deceives us into thinking we have the capacity to lead our own lives, to make decisions that reflect our best interests when the only reference point we have is the present tense . As many plans as our human minds may devise we are constrained with a  limited understanding. The Lord’s purpose will be established as it has always been since the beginning of time wether we choose to abide by his word or not Proverbs 18:22.

Indecision is a choice

We are presented with two choices one that leads to the abundance of life through obedience and one that leads  to death. Most of us fail in making a definitive choice because  we are always caught up in indecision wrestling with two opinions. I think it is scarier to to be indecisive, to struggle with a double mind when you understand the value of wise counsel and the cost of disobedience Proverbs 1:15-16.

Privilege and Responsibility of sonship

As believers we are adopted into sonship with our father, through adoption we carry both the privilege and responsibility of bearing his name and his image. Part of the privilege is the acknowledgement of his grace, infinite love and mercy that has saved you from the depths of darkness. The responsibility is choosing his path of righteousness despite the loss and since we bear the scars of Jesus Christ on our body the world is crucified unto us Galatians 6:17.

The path of Righteousness

There is life in walking in the path of righteousness Proverbs 13:1. There is an intimate closeness which is established with the third person of the trinity the Holy spirit. Much of what is lost in choosing this path is nothing compared to the joy and fullness found in Christ Jesus alone. Obedience in the wise counsel of our father is the greatest assurance of security. May his rebuke and correction lead you back to the place of wonder and gratitude at the sight of a Holy and righteous God who still comes chasing after you.

I urge you to get back to your place of need which moves you to seek his face not for what you can get out of him but what he can do through you which will ultimately bring Glory to his name. I pray that God ignites in you a new desire to know him, to seat at his feet and let him pour out his thoughts to you and make his truth known to you. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, to know him is to love him and abide in his truth. May his grace empower you to always choose obedience regardless of what you may lose in the moment when you are promised that the living waters shall flow through you by his living word which is in you.
