My Feelings do not define Truth

My feelings do not define truth nor are they truth, my feelings are a fraction of all that I’ve believed to be true. My feelings are limited to my experiences, history and a period defined by deception. The word of God is truth, my feelings and emotions should submit to truth not define truth. One of the areas that God is convicting me on is the authority I place on my feelings and the extent to which I am governed by what I feel. My father is patiently exposing me to the fact that I live my life in complete submission to how I feel. The truth is in whatever circumstance I find myself in, what I feel does not change his word nor does it alternate truth to justify the excuses that I come up with for my disobedience. May God deliver us from spiritual complacency which deceives us into thinking that we can actually live out our christian lives without prioritizing him over everything else. To deliver us from a lukewarm christian life that is only satisfied with appearing to be something that in practice we do not live out. Our feelings do not define truth, they are only a fraction of a reality we are confined in which is passing away. May God ignite a desire in us to long for his presence, to long for intimacy with his word and ultimately to live out the fullness of life through an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit rooted in surrender.

Word is Life

I am the way the truth and the life, no one come to the father except through me. John 14:16

One of the hardest deceptions to break free from is the idea that you can live a christian life without cultivating your own self feeding culture. To move beyond consumerist christian lives to becoming responsible and disciplined children who desire to spend time with their father regardless of the sacrifices they need to make. To love his presence enough to take the time out of our ‘so busy’ schedules to spend time with the one who has stopped time to come find us. I am so humbled and even overwhelmed with the love that Christ has showed me time and time again. It moves me to joy just thinking of how much he has done for me. That in him I have the ability to have life and have it abundantly John 10:10. That in him I am blessed eternally with the seal of the Holy Spirit who is with me eternally John 14:16. Where can I go from the life that Christ has for me, where can I ever find a life that is adamant on giving me an abundance of it’s own source. Who am I if not for the love, grace and mercy of my Lord and savior Jesus Christ. My redeemer, my life, the stronghold of my entire existence, the one who is life. What am I without you my Lord? John 15:5

Word is Truth

Man shall not live by bread alone but every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4

We have innumerable options when it comes to time allocation. In most cases we are strayed away because we lack knowledge Hosea 4:6. We remain ignorant because we desire everything else but the truth, which is the word of God. Part of our ignorance is rooted in our discomfort with truth, the conviction of truth and the weight of truth. The word of God is sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart Hebrews 4:12 . The weight of knowing and admitting your own ignorance is hard at times and yet we are called time and time again to cultivate a yearning and desire for truth. Truth sets us free from condemnation, performance, deception, and our mind sets of bondage to everything that takes our life away. It is time that we put away our excuses and confront our spiritual complacency because we know that the word of God is life and we can’t neglect this truth because we are a little tired, lazy, preoccupied or just simply not interested.

Word is Eternal

Heaven and Earth will pass away but my words will never pass away. Luke 21:33

My feelings, emotions, experiences, trials, circumstances, excuses, my achievements, my security will eventually pass away and cease to exist but the word of God which is timeless and not confined in any space or dimension of time will remain. We have access to the word of God, we have God living in us who longs to reveal eternal truths to us in his word and yet we choose to act like the Israelites. The Israelites who looked at the eternal word of God with contempt and dissatisfaction because they believed they were missing out on something that was far greater. Due to Ignorance they failed to realize that they were rejecting life, the manna from God the bread of life was life, the only life that would not enslave them Numbers 11:5.  We reject the bread of life who is Christ anytime we let our feelings dictate the value we place on the word of God. We have the authority over our feelings in Jesus Name. As children of God we are no longer governed by what passes away but by the infallible word of God which is eternal. May God deepen our understanding of our depravity without his truth, how utterly lost we are without his word. May he impart in us a longing for deeper intimacy with the Holy Spirit who patiently reveals to us the purpose of all our existence which is to Glorify Christ the one who has given us life, a blessed life of abundance.
