I’ve been reading the book of John, I can’t get past the first chapter. The word of God is life, it’s not merely words to be dissected for the sake of study but it is living and active. Every time we avail ourselves in humility to be taught by the Holy Spirit we give consent to the transforming power of the word of God. Another layer of ignorance and blindness is removed as we are changed into our true selves the image bearers of the true and Living God, Our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Children of God
Nothing else matters than embodying the nature of Christ . No other identity is superior to what Christ has given to those who believe in him.
The power to become something far greater than what we could ever be in our own strength and pursuit.
John 1:12-13 NKJV
“But to as many as did receive him to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name who were born not of blood , nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of man but of God.
MSG John 1:12-13
“But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said he made them to be their true selves, their child of God selves . They are God begotten, not blood begotten, not flesh begotten nor sex begotten .
Power to Posses the Life of Christ
One of the struggles in learning to become a child of God is letting go of every other pursuit and like Paul coming into a place of complete surrender where you deem every other pursuit except for knowing Christ and him crucified as fruitless and completely useless . Unless our relevance in society hinges upon what Jesus Christ has done and accomplished for us we will never walk in the power that is available to express fully the life of God on earth.
Our biggest challenge as young people is creating a trajectory that is true to our passions. Clinging close to God and trusting that truly if we seek his Kingdom every other thing is added unto us. It gets a bit difficult when it feels like you are stagnant, although a child of God but struggling to move up some ladder of success. It’s hard letting go of the perception of success or the value we place on the achievements we get .
Yet in all these pursuits none of them can give us the Power to posses the life of Christ. None can give us the ability to become Christ like except the power of the Holy Spirit. The Mystery of the Gospel is that we have been given access to behold the glory of God . What else matters than to behold the Glory of the maker of heaven and earth. To know that he has given us the greatest name, the greatest identity . To be known as children of God.
Power to become Christ Like
I’m learning that unless my relevance is found in my identity is Christ, it yields absolutely nothing of lasting value. Unless I learn to live in the consciousness of the Love of God that gives me access to his presence I’ll never walk in power of Christ.
The Power to become Children of God’s is made manifest in our lives when we recognize that nothing stands between us and God that the veil has been torn. In any atmosphere we have the ability to look to him. In those moments where we choose to acknowledge and esteem him higher we are changed into his image .
2 Corinthians 3:16-18 MSG
“ whenever, though , they turn to face God as Moses did , God removes the veil and they are face to face . They suddenly recognize that God is a living , personal Presence not a piece of chiseled stone, and when God is personally present a living Spirit that old constructing legislation is recognized as obsolete we are free of it. All of us nothing between us and God . Our faces shining with the brightness of his face and we are transfigured much like the Messiah. Our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives we become like him”
The Power to become Children of God is what Christ has freely given to everyone who believes in him. The power that changes our pursuits aligning every pursuit of our lives with an eternal perspective. The power to become our true selves , Children of God who walk in the revelation that we have the right to call unto God as our father who avails himself to us despite every shortcoming. The same power that helps us to approach his throne of Grace and Mercy in boldness and confidence.
